Luke Shaw’s last contract with Manchester United was till 2023 with an additional year. He signed the deal in December to trigger the one-year extension. Even though it’s only been a few months, Man United has not wasted their time negotiating a long-term deal with the player. As per reports, both parties have agreed on a deal for the next four years.
However, no further details regarding the deal have not yet been revealed. Shaw arrived at Man United back in 2014 from Southampton on a record-breaking deal of £30 million. Since then, his time at the club has been a roller coaster. As he signs this deal, his time at the club will transcend a decade and all fans hope that this next part will be a good one for the player.
Shaw’s progress at the club and football, in general, was held up owing to various injury issues and fall-outs with previous managers. He especially fell out of favor with Jose Mourinho when he was at Manchester United. However, he has now been able to impress both Man United boss Erik Ten Hag and England team coach Gareth Southgate.

Shaw has been the first choice at Manchester United’s left-back side instead of Tyrell Malacia. He has also impressed at the center-back whenever the coach felt he needed the defender in that position. Ten Hag has also been impressed with the player’s attitude off the pitch and believes that Shaw can be an important part of Ten Hag’s long-term plans with the club.
Shaw has also been able to impress England coach Gareth Southgate in a similar manner and has earned back a position with the England team. He was recently a part of the England squad for the Euro qualifiers games. He received a red card in their first game against Italy, but Shaw still stayed back with the team for their next fixture against Ukraine. Southgate was pleased with this decision as well. It can be certainly said that Shaw has been paving his road to a bright time ahead from now on.
