Potter was given a 5-year contract by Chelsea last year. However, the club was quick to relieve him from his duties after the club only managed to win 12 games out of 31 under him, which saw the club in the bottom half of the table. As a result of the sacking, Chelsea reportedly paid £13 million to the English manager. After 2 days of sacking, Potter with his family left for the Maldives spending a reported £20,000 on the getaway.
Reports also suggest that, when he was on his way and stopped in Dubai, he checked the score of the Chelsea vs Liverpool game. The match ended 0-0, a similar result, to what Chelsea has been seeing this season.
After sacking Potter, Chelsea appointed their former player and manager, Frank Lampard as interim coach till the end of the season.
Who Will Be Managing Chelsea Next Season
The appointment of Frank Lamprd is a clear indication that the Blues are in no hurry to appoint their new manager. Moreover, there are several names linked to the role. Julian Naglesmann is one of the big names, constantly linked with the role. Bayern recently sacked Naglesmann, who has produced good results in Bundesliga with RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.
