Everton earned a crucial point in the Premier League relegation battle with a late goal by Ellis Simms as Sean Dyche’s side drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Chelsea dominated a first half marked by few chances and little genuine quality. Felix had the best chance of the first 45 minutes but fired straight at Jordan Pickford as Graham Potter’s side failed to capitalise despite dominating possession. Felix scored seven minutes into the second half, his second goal since joining Chelsea in January and his first at Stamford Bridge.
Michael Keane deflected Ben Chilwell’s low ball into the box into the path of the Portugal striker, who spun and fired a pinpoint left-footed effort in off the right post. Four minutes later, Christian Pulisic of the United States fired emphatically into the far corner before his strike was ruled out for an offside call.

Everton equalised on 69 minutes through Abdoulaye Doucoure, despite rarely threatening Chelsea’s goal. James Tarkowski headed Dwight McNeil’s corner towards goal, and Doucoure flicked the defender’s effort on past Kepa Arrizabalaga and just over the line before Kai Havertz booted the ball away. Before signalling that the ball had crossed the line, referee Darren England checked goalline technology.
However, just four minutes later, Tarkowski tripped Reece James in the penalty box, resulting in a penalty kick. Pickford dived the other way as Havertz fired into the right side of the net. The game appeared to be heading in Chelsea’s favour until substitute Simms powered through the Chelsea defence and scored in the final minute of regulation. The point helped Everton rise to 15th in the table, while Chelsea are in 10th place.
