Even if tomorrow, he doesn’t make me play anymore.” He added, “I have to have respect for a guy like Carlo Ancelotti. What he represents for football, what he has done in his career, there is no problem.”

When asked about it he said, “I miss it, I want to play, I want to have fun on the field, I hope deep inside me that I can bring something and that the coach is still counting on me.”

He also added that he would still like to contribute to the games and doesn’t have any plans to leave the club, I would like to stay, I’ve always said that. I hope to play and to show that I can still do it. People have doubts, that’s normal, I understand. But for me, I’m still here next year. You never know, but a transfer is not in my plan.”

The star retired from international football after the 2022 Qatar World Cup. In his 126 appearances for the Belgium National Team, he scored a total of 33 goals and gave 36 assists. As the reason for his retirement at only 32 years of age, he said he didn’t like to take up a spot in the national team when younger players were more deserving to be included.
