The Al Nassr fan had to be removed from the pitch after confronting the former Manchester United player, who was playing for Portugal against Luxembourg. Ronaldo loves the spotlight on him and he seemed far from uncomfortable with the attention. In fact, he gave the supporter a wink and a thumbs up. Security quickly came to Ronaldo’s rescue and marched the over-eager spectator off the pitch.

This isn’t the first time Ronaldo has dealt with pitch invaders. Only last month, he avoided potential injury by jumping out of the way of a pitch invader who slipped, nearly taking him out. A fan sprinted onto the pitch during the pre-match warmup for Al-Nassr’s against Al-Taawoun in the hopes of running into the five-time Champions League and Ballon d’Or winner. He stumbled at Ronaldo’s feet when he approached the player and other Al-Nassr stars, though. Ronaldo dodged the star-struck admirer and the oncoming security officer.

Back in December, stewards grabbed another pitch invader who tried to get close to their hero after Portugal crashed out of the 2022 World Cup to Morocco. When officials chased after him, the man ran straight at Ronaldo, who didn’t even notice the pitch invader until security managed to grab him just before impact. With Ronaldo only a few inches away, the man stretched out a hand as officials dragged him away.

Ronaldo has started off his tenure under new coach Roberto Martinez in fine fashion. CR7 scored twice against Liechtenstein and helped Portugal win the game 4-0. In the process, he also became the most international capped player ever.

Against Luxembourg in their second Euro 2024 qualifying game, Ronaldo was on the scoresheet twice and now has 121 goals for his country. There were a lot of speculations regarding Ronaldo’s involvement in Roberto Martinez’ Portugal side. But CR7 has pushed aside all doubts that his skills can be doubted anymore with his displays in these two games. It seems as though Ronaldo will have Martinez’ backing in the near future for the Portuguese team.
