According to reports, Barca allegedly paid nearly €7 million (£6.2m/$7.4m) to Negreira between 2001 and 2018, which has prompted an investigation by prosecutors into the club’s conduct. Despite this, Barca President Joan Laporta has maintained that the club is innocent.
Notably, this marks the first instance in which Los Blancos has publicly commented on the ‘Barcelona Corruption Scandal’. The Los Blancos previously had not joined the statement released by 40 La Liga teams that ‘rejected and condemned’ the situation.
