Oscars 2022: Boxing News: Floyd Mayweather made sure Will Smith stayed fine after the Hollywood actor infamously slapped Chris Rock at Oscars 2022. The Will Smith- Chris Rock tussle left the entire world baffled as Oscars banned Will Smith’s entry into the event for the next 10 years. Several people criticized Will Smith for his actions. According to Will Smith, Floyd Mayweather called him for ten days straight after that incident and showered him with words of inspiration. Per TMZ‘s reports, Smith said, “[Floyd and I] met each other, we’ve seen each other around, but we weren’t like, friends.”

He added, “And, the day after the Oscars, for 10 days, he called me every day. And he was like, ‘Hey, you know you the champ, right? You good? You know you the champ, right? I want you to hear my voice say it.”
“Every day he called me and it’s like, that’s my dude forever right there.”

Floyd Mayweather didn’t get very vocal about the incident, but remained in his countryman’s corner throughout. As noted, the Oscars 2022 controversy erupted after Chris Rock joked about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Rock referred to a ‘GI-Jane’ joke aimed at Jada’s bald form, and Will Smith didn’t hesitate to walk to the stage and slap comedian Chris Rock. The incident split the entertainment world into two halves as people posed variant opinions on the subject. That said, Floyd Mayweather has apparently proved his point about picking sides.

Floyd Mayweather fight: When can the undefeated boxer return?

Floyd Mayweather retired from professional boxing after knocking out Conor McGregor in 2017. He departed the sport with an unscratched resume of 50-0 with world titles in five-weight divisions. That said, ‘Money’ Mayweather is still actively participating in exhibition bouts. He battled Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul, Don Moore, Mikuru Asakura, and then KSI’s brother Deji since facing McGregor back in the day.

Aged 46, Floyd Mayweather can still bag multi-million paydays with his actions and doesn’t seem to stop it anytime soon. Having knocked out Deji in his last appearance, Mayweather can return in 2023. The undefeated legend hasn’t announced his next opponent yet but is expected to do so in the near future.
