FIFA World CUP: Saudi Arabia’s U-TURN on Rolls-Royce gift for players, ’No we are not giving them any car’ confirms Federation President

“No, no, no. Our players played for the pride of representing their nation. They had the honor and luck to represent the national team in a historic match (against Argentina). The rumors are not true. Of course, they had a bonus, but it was a normal bonus. There are regulations for it. They don’t play for bonuses, they played for their country. To make their own history. Many of them became famous after beating Argentina,” said Yasser Al Misehal.

Argentina took a merited lead after Lionel Messi converted a penalty after 10 minutes. In the first half, Lionel Scaloni’s team had three goals called out for offside as the Saudi high line began to crumble. Everything changed in the second half. After getting past Cristian Romero, Saleh Al-Shehri equalised shortly after the interval. Five minutes later, Salem Al-Dawsari cut inside and unleashed an unbelievable attempt that Emiliano Martinez couldn’t handle. Argentina couldn’t produce an equaliser, with Julian Alvarez’s header in the second half possibly their best effort. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, suffered two successive defeats and was forced to withdraw from the tournament.

The president also spoke about Al-Shahrani, the footballer who was hit hard during the match against Argentina. “Thank God, Al-Shahrani is unharmed. He suffered multiple serious injuries. Not only a facial injury. He also suffered rib and pancreas injuries that were frightening, but he is recovering well. He’s had three operations and is doing fine at home. I believe he will gradually begin training and expect to see him back on the field soon “he stated.
