“This will be my last World Cup — for sure. The decision has been made,” Messi told Star + in Argentina. “I don’t know if we are the favourite candidates, but Argentina is always a candidate because of history, because of what it means,” he added.
“We are not the top favourites it seems to me. There are other teams that are above us today, but we are very close,” Messi said.
The 35-year-old helped his side win the Copa America Trophy back in 2021 after a long wait of 28 years. Messi who currently leads the Argentine squad is deemed one of the favorites to win the title.
