Reece James

The England full-back is a major doubt for the tournament after picking up an injury during his club Chelsea’s Uefa Champions League clash against AC Milan. The pacey full-back is an integral part of Gareth Southgate’s side and if he misses the World Cup flight, it will be a big blow for the Three Lions. As things stand, one cannot certainly rule out James but the chances of him making it to Qatar are bleak.

Kalvin Phillips

Another English player who is very likely to miss the World Cup flight. The Manchester City midfielder suffered a dislocated shoulder last month and is almost certain to miss the big event.

Paul Pogba

Pogba is unlikely to make it to the French squad and it’s certainly a big blow for the reigning champions. Pogba who scored a goal in the 2018 World Cup final, has not played since returning to Juventus this summer following knee surgery.

N’Golo Kante

In another big blow to the Les Blues, defensive mid-fielder Kante will most definitely miss the World Cup. It is expected that the Chelsea man will be out for as long as two months after the relapse of a hamstring problem. The absence of both Pogba and Kante will certainly be demoralizing for the whole French squad.

Diogo Jota

Jota has been officially ruled out of the World Cup. The Liverpool forward was injured during last week’s Premier League match between Liverpool and Man City and was assessed by Liverpool’s medical team. As per official reports, the Portugese forward will take a long time to recover and is not going to make it to Qatar next month.

Marco Reus

Another World Cup and another heart-breaking injury for Marco Reus. The Dortmund talisman damaged his ankle ligament last month and is unlikely to be a part of Germany’s World Cup going squad.

Georginio Wijnaldum

Wijnaldum suffered a fractured tibia in his right leg while playing for AS Roma in the Serie. The Dutch midfielder is an integral part of the national team and as things stand, he is set to miss the World Cup. A big blow for the Oranje.

Paulo Dybala

In a big blow to Argentina, Paulo Dybala is all but certain to miss the World Cup. Dybala got injured during AS Roma’s 2-1 win over Lecce in Serie A last week – a freak injury while taking a penalty shot.

Angel di Maria

Di Maria faces a race against time to be fit for the World Cup. Like his team-mate Dybala, the Argentine winger also suffered a thigh injury on Champions League duty for Juventus.

Raul Jimenez

The Mexico talisman is expected to miss the World Cup in Qatar. Jimenez hasn’t played at the professional level since August, due to a groin injury. The Wolves forward is yet to fully recover.
