The rules for people, more especially women are different in the oil state. Many of the WAGs have been told to ‘dress modestly’ at the mega event, in stadiums, and also when they are outdoors. Another thing that is a big no-no is Public displays of affection, which is looked down upon and ‘will not be tolerated.

Littering is also considered illegal in Qatar and is punishable by a fine of £6,000 and a year in jail.  Taking selfies outside government buildings would lead to police action as well.

“Every order is in place to protect both yourselves and your partner/husband in any case of indiscretion. Fines and prosecution are commonplace.” – This seems to have been the message that has been passed onto the WAGs at the ‘unofficial meeting’  that was held by the English FA.

“They cannot — and will not — tolerate any controversy or incident that could and should have been avoided with good planning.” Looks like the English FA are pulling out all the stops to ensure any sort of unnecessary controversy, which will take the team’s mind off what goes on the pitch.
