It happens after months of being unpopular at Old Trafford, followed by a painful departure from the team. However, Ronaldo was hardly the only unexpected selection in the tournament’s poorest team according to statistics. He was joined by players like Edouard Mendy of Chelsea and Lautaro Martinez of Senegal, who also won the World Cup with Argentina. The team was put up by the data company Sofascore using a variety of performance measures and statistics.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been selected in the worst XI from the World Cup after he endured a difficult time for Portugal at the tournament in Qatar.

Ronaldo’s performance at the World Cup received a meagre score of 6.46. While Portugal forward created history by scoring against Ghana in the opening round, he struggled as the season went on and his country’s team appeared lifeless moving forward. Additionally, a strike against Uruguay that was ruled to have crossed the goal line completely was not given to him. Former manager Fernando Santos took a risk by benching Cristiano Ronaldo for the round of 16 match against Switzerland; his team reacted by winning 6-1.
For the quarterfinal match against Morocco, the former Real Madrid player once more found himself on the sidelines. This time Portugal lost, and despite Ronaldo’s best efforts as a substitute, they were unable to break down the tenacious Moroccan defence. Ronaldo was last seen crying uncontrollably as he made his way down the tunnel.

His legendary football opponent Lionel Messi would later lead Argentina to the World Cup win, adding insult to injury. Mendy was rated 6.30 following a mistake-filled performance for Senegal, which resulted in his being included in the tournament’s weakest team. Due to his poor play, the goalkeeper has recently been replaced in Chelsea’s starting lineup by Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Martinez, a striker who played on the World Cup-winning team, only obtained a rating of 6.35. In all but two of Argentina’s games, he came off the bench, and he played for 148 minutes. He didn’t score or have any significant influence for the South American team, though.
Sergino Dest, an American right back, Abdou Diallo, a defender from Senegal, and Kamil Glik and Bartosz Bereszyski, two players from Poland, are all included in the worst XI. The statistics were also not favourable for the Australian midfielders Jackson Irvine and Mathew Leckie, the Swiss winger Ruben Vargas, and the South Korean Hwang In-beom.
