FIFA WC POLAND TEAM: A team that hasn’t quite gotten going on the biggest stage of World Football – Poland has struggled in recent times to perform at the highest level and make a name for itself. They finished in 3rd place in 1974 and 1982 but in the last 3 editions of the World Cup, they’ve only managed to qualify for the 2018 edition, wherein they failed to make it out of the group stage. A lot to play for as the Polish team makes its way to Qatar.
FIFA WC POLAND SQUAD: Czeslaw Michniewicz, the head coach of Poland, who has been at the helm since 2022 will be looking to make a name for himself in Qatar. He has been the coach of domestic teams in Poland and this is his first stint internationally.
Poland was in Group-I in their World Cup Qualifying campaign and they finished in 2nd place, just behind England, with their ace striker Robert Lewandowski ending up with 8 goals to his name in qualifying. They faced Sweden in the finals of the playoffs and won 2-0 to book their place in Qatar. They do have some players who can make an impact but they will require a team effort to navigate a slightly tricky group to make the Round of 16.
POLAND TEAM NEWS: All eyes will be on Robert Lewandowski. The fiery striker of FC Barcelona is the leader in attack for the Polish team. While he hasn’t quite replicated his domestic form to his international form, there is no doubt that the number 9 has the skill to turn the game on his head.
He is, personally, enjoying a good season in Catalonia and would be looking to continue the same. Piotr Zieliński also will be a key player for them as the Napoli player can play alongside Lewa and cause a lot of damage to the opposition. With the likes of Szczesny, Bednarek, and Krychowicz in their ranks, they do have experience across the pitch and will hope these players bring out their A-game.
POLAND Team INJURY LIST: Not a lot of injury concerns for the Polish team but the one absentee that will miss the World Cup with certainty is midfielder Jakub Moder, due to a cruciate ligament injury.
FIFA WC POLAND GROUP NEWS: Poland is in Group C with Argentina, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia. Their games against Mexico and Argentina will be tricky, while they will be backing themselves to beat Saudi Arabia.
FIFA WC POLAND Matches & Schedule: Poland’s first game of the World Cup will be against Mexico on the 22nd of November, followed by their clash against Saudi Arabia on the 26th of the month, and they end their group stages with a game against Argentina on the 1st of December.
