Working with Adidas and FIFA’s own Working Group for Innovation Excellence, a number of trials over the past couple of years have proven successful enough for full use in Qatar.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino said: “At the FIFA World Cup in 2018, FIFA took the brave step to use VAR technology on the world’s biggest stage, and it has proven to be an undisputable success.

The World Cup will kick off on Monday November 21 with Senegal v Netherlands.
