Lima’s appointment to ‘develop, promote and participate in several global initiatives’ by FIFA was announced on Monday. Moya Dodd, who was part of the co-hosting bid campaign for her native Australia and New Zealand, was quick to criticize FIFA on her Twitter account. Her tweet read, ‘Seriously, FIFA, is this the fan engagement ambassador we need as the (Women’s World Cup) approaches?

Dodd, a lifelong supporter of women’s soccer and a former member of the FIFA executive committee, uploaded the glamour shot from Lima’s Twitter profile, which has 2.4 million followers, with the hashtag “tonedeaf.” Dodd also criticized FIFA regarding the speculation that the Saudi Arabia tourism board could be an official sponsor for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The pending “Visit Saudi” sponsor deal also provoked the soccer federations of Australia and New Zealand to urge FIFA not to sign the agreement.
