FIFA Best Awards 2023: FIFA FIFRO Men’s World XI: Following Real Madrid’s LaLiga and Champions League double in 2021-22, Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, and Carlo Ancelotti were named finalists in the Best FIFA Men’s Player, Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper, and Best FIFA Men’s Coach categories, respectively. The seventh year of the FIFA The Best awards, which have been given out since 2016, has just ended. Lionel Messi receives the Best Player for Men while Alexia Putellas received the counterpart. Lionel Scaloni led Argentina to the World Cup and was honoured alongside his beloved custodian Emiliano Martinez. Cristiano Ronaldo surprisingly did not feature in the FIFPRO World XI. Marcin Oleksy won the Puskas Award.

First and foremost, sources close to the club have revealed that none of the three finalists mentioned above will receive an award. Current Ballon d’Or winner Benzema was had s a strong third-choice behind Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé in the best player category. Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni was certainly to win best coach following his country’s historic World Cup victory. Courtois appeared to have the best chance of winning, but Emiliano Martnez took the award ahead of Morocco’s Yassine Bounou.

Thibaut Courtois, Achraf Hakimi, Joao Cancelo, Casemiro, and Karim Benzema were all named for the first time to the 2022 FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World 11, while Lionel Messi was named for the 16th time. Kylian Mbappe returned to the XI after missing out in 2020 and 2021, and Erling Haaland made it back-to-back selections. Virgil van Dijk and Kevin De Bruyne completed the lineup with their third appearances.
