Babar Azam went past quite a few named players en route to register this iconic landmark. Previously Virat Kohli was the fastest Asian cricketer to register 10000 international runs. Kohli achieved this feat in just 232 innings. However, Babar Azam went on to go and achieve this record 4 innings faster. Babar took 228 innings to get this wonderful feat.

Some of the great legends of the game also feature in his esteemed list. Sunil Gavaskar is third on the list followed by Javed Miandad and then Sourav Ganguly on the fifth spot.

Babar Azam came to the rescue for his side in the first Test match against Sri Lanka at Galle. Chasing a 223 first innings score set by the hosts, Pakistan found themselves in a huge spot of bother as the Lankan bowlers wreaked havoc on the Pakistani batters. With as many as 6 batters scoring in single digits, Babar Azam took the responsibility on his shoulders to help his team overcome this distress.

Babar Azam remained unbeaten on century on Day 2 of the Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 1st Test match. With Azam still on the crease, Pakistan currently trails by a little more than 20 runs and will be aiming to continue the onslaught by Babar in the last wicket-standing partnership with Naseem Shah.
