Fans Fume as Kishan Picked Over Sanju Samson in IND vs WI 1st ODI, Check Reactions

Sanju Samson has scored 330 runs in 10 ODIs at an impressive average of 66 (SR: 104.76). His tally includes two half-centuries

Team India went with Ishan Kishan as their wicketkeeper-batter for the 1st ODI match against West Indies. To note, Kishan stroked his maiden Test fifty in his previous outing which might have tempted the Indian team management to pick the Southpaw over Samson. However, this did not go down well with the fans as expressed their anger and frustration on the social media.

Samson played his last ODI match in November 2022

Despite getting very limited chances to don the Indian national team jersey in ODIs, Samson has scored 330 runs in 10 ODIs at an impressive average of 66 (SR: 104.76). His tally includes two half-centuries, one of which came against WI in a winning cause at the Port of Spain last year. Samson last played an ODI for India in November 2022.

On the other hand, Kishan is among a few Indian batters who have stroked 200 runs in the 50-over format. Overall, he has amassed 510 runs in 14 ODIs at 42.5. The tally includes three half-centuries besides a ton. His strike rate in the format reads 106.03. Most of his runs have come while batting in the top three.

Despite all these numbers and stats, fans on the social media were truly in support of Samson as he missed yet another match for the Men in Blue. Some of the fans also lashed out at BCCI and team management for doing favoritism in the final playing XI.

Meanwhile, here are some reactions on Samson’s Omission:
