F1 Pre-season Testing: Charles Leclerc fastest: Formula 1’s pre-season testing began with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc setting the fastest timing of the morning session in Barcelona. McLaren’s young driver Lando Norris was the second-fastest while Mercedes’ George Russell was third. Follow F1 2022 Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.

Charles Leclerc established an early benchmark and then later improved. The conditions got warm after a chilly start in the morning. Charles set the quickest lap time of 1m 20. 165s. The Ferrari driver drove around 80 laps.

Leclerc was three-tenths ahead of McLaren driver, Lando Norris. The McLaren driver managed P2 with 13 minutes remaining. The new driver for Mercedes, George Russell then finished P3 as the 1 pm deadline approached. Russell completed 75 laps with the brand new W13 car.

Sebastian Vettel, the driver for Aston Martin finished in P4. Yuki Tsunoda finished P5 in his AlphaTauri car. The reigning champion, Max Verstappen was P6 in his RB18. The RB18 surely did turn heads as it was different from the launch version which was launched earlier in February.

The Alpine driver, Fernando Alonso finished P7. The Williams driver, Nicholas Latifi was P8 and was three seconds off the leading pace. Meanwhile, Nikita Mazepin the driver for Haas managed P9 in the dying moments of the morning session.

The camouflaged Alfa Romeo C42 saw their reserve driver Robert Kubica out on the track. He completed a handful of laps as he finished P10 after a late flying effort.

We will see different drivers who will take the wheel in the afternoon session. Carlos Sainz will take the wheel from Charles Leclerc. Lewis Hamilton will replace George Russell and drive the brand new Mercedes W13. The Aston Martin driver, Lance Stroll will take the wheel from Sebastian Vettel.

Alex Albon, the newly joined driver for Williams will take the wheel from Nicholas Latifi. Valtteri Bottas, who joined Alfa Romeo from Mercedes will take the wheel from Robert Kubica. Last but not the least, Mick Schumacher will take the wheel from the fellow driver, Nikita Mazepin.
