F1 Canadian GP: Jenson Button wins Canadian GP after Sebastian Vettel’s error
Jenson Button had been given a drive-through penalty and he also collided with his teammate Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso in two different incidents. On top of it, he made six pit spots but then also he saw the chequered flag in the first place.
Thinking back to one of the longest races in F1 history and this move from Jenson Button on Sebastian Vettel to take the win at the 2011 Canadian GP.

In wet conditions on that day in the 2011 Canadian GP, Button was looking like a man on a mission as he overtook Vettel on Turn 6 when the German half spun his RB7 and lost the momentum. Meanwhile, Button only led for half a lap and took the win at the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix.
F1 Canadian GP: Lewis Hamilton collides with Kimi Raikkonen in the pit lane
In the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton crashed with Kimi Raikkonen at the end of the slow lane. This meant that Hamilton broke his front wing and also the rear wing of Raikkonen’s car. Hamilton led the race from the pole until the safety car was deployed on lap 17 as he and the other six drivers went into the pit lane.

The British driver, however, lost the lead simultaneously, and keeping in mind that Raikkonen and possible victor Robert Kubica sat calmly toward the finish of the pit lane, trusting that the green light will sparkle, Hamilton went on at full (indeed, pit limiter) speed and blasted through the back wing of the Ferrari, eliminating the two men on the spot. Both Hamilton and Raikkonen then made a slow walk back to their garages.
Nigel Mansell celebrates too soon after giving the race win to Nelson Piquet
Nigel Mansell had led the 1991 Canadian GP from the start and on the 69th lap, he started waving to the crowd from the cockpit of his Williams. But, soon after he stopped on the track as his revs dropped, an immediate consequence of his complacency, absence of mindfulness, and vanity.

Last-lap heartbreak for Nigel Mansell in Canada 💔
And a final #F1 victory for a quite unsympathetic Nelson Piquet! 👀 pic.twitter.com/IAFnhHBPbL— Formula 1 (@F1) June 2, 2018
Meanwhile, Mansell’s car halted just two corners from the chequered flag as his great rival Nelson Piquet took the win while driving for team Benetton.

Robert Kubica’s horror crash
In the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix, Robert Kubica was aiming to overtake Jarno Trulli when his front wing made contact with the rear of Toyota. The result of it was disastrous as Kubica’s BMW lost control as his car lifted off the ground and made contact with a concrete barrier before smashing into another barrier head-on.
F1 Canadian GP: Robert Kubica’s FREAK accidentThe vehicle bounced back across the track surface, somersaulting in mid-air, prior to crashing into the barrier on the other side, which it slid along for a few meters prior to coming to lay on its side. Moreover, Kubica endured a slight concussion and a sprained ankle as he missed the next race in the form of the United State’s GP.
The wall of champions that claimed its first victims
In the 1999 Canadian Grand Prix, the chicane was manhandled by no less than three title holders, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve, and Michael Schumacher, and every one of them paid for their quest for perfection with their evenings, their vehicles clouting the substantial divider present outwardly.

It was after that race when the barrier, maybe the most famous and notorious in the sport, came to be lovingly known as the Wall of Champions, the one spot where limits should be regarded and not tested.
