According to an article by news18, this indicates a careless approach from the Japanese company for users in India. The article further reported that there is an ongoing semiconductor shortage. Due to the shortage, the company has been unable to restock PS5 in India whereas UK & US has already seen several launches.

However, Sony PlayStation India chief Prosenjit Ghosh stated in 2020 that the company is focusing on PlayStation 4 in India and not the PS5.  According to IGN, this not surprising as the ‘nearly decade-old console is still in demand in India to the point where it recently received a price hike’. Something similar happened when PS3 launched, the PS2 saw a spike in demand & sold a million more units.
