One of the biggest esports organizations, Sentinels, welcomed the FPS King, Shroud, to its VALORANT roster. Shroud is joining the roster as the fifth member, as SEN SicK is taking a long leave from VALORANT. Shroud’s return to competitive play left big streamers like Pokimane and xQc pleasantly surprised. A while ago, Shroud had left professional play and switched to streaming as a career option. Now, the FPS King, Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek is back to competitive play with Sentinels. Sentinels’ VALORANT roster went through a downfall in 2022, where they barely made it to the VALORANT Champions Tour 2022 North America Last Chance Qualifier. Adding Shroud to the team could prove to be a solution to their problems.

The streaming community reacts to Shroud returning as a professional VALORANT player

According to Shroud, even players and management people inside of the organization thought he was trolling.

When we threw my name into the bucket of the players that they can use as a fifth, everybody thought I was trolling. Everybody… the players, the owner, everybody. They still might, who knows? You guys probably think it is a troll too. I am not going to half-ass, that’s gonna be dumb. That would just be a shitty move for me and for the team.”

Former Overwatch pro, xQc, came across the announcement during a recent livestream. Like most other streamers, he was pleasantly surprised.

“What a sick intro that is. Is he competing or a content creator?  Oh my god, damn! He actually f***** did it dirty like that (reacting to Shroud talking about TenZ in video).”

Shroud’s return announcement on Twitter and TikTok has blown up on the esports and streaming scene as streamers, players and fans react to the news. No one expected the announcement to come, including Pokimane. The RTS co-owner could be seen jumping with excitement, as she exclaimed,

“Is it April fools, that is freaking sick! I am so hyped to see this!”

Other notable professional players and streamers also took to Twitter to share their reaction about the announcement.
