PMGC 2024 League Stage: NAVI Reigns supreme in Group Red

PUBG Mobile Global Championship aka PMGC 2024 League Stage Week 2 concluded yesterday. NAVI Reigns supreme in Group Red.

The second week of the 2024 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC) League Stage concluded yesterday. A total of 16 teams of Group Red went head-to-head in 24 high-stakes matches. After four days of excitement, NAVI took to the podium, with Tong Jia Bao Esports and Nigma Galaxy joining alongside them. These three teams have earned their place in the Grand Finals, whilst the fate of the remaining teams is still to be determined.

PMGC 2024 League Stage: Week 2 Summary

Kicking off the first day, AS i8 stepped into the spotlight, earning the first Chicken Dinner of the week on Sanhok, setting them up for a great start to a fiery contest. Closely behind, Tianba and IW NRX secured 15 and 14 points respectively, followed shortly by Nigma Galaxy. The 2023 Global Champions IHC ESPORTS concluded the first day with a bitter 14th place finish, whilst Nigma Galaxy easily climbed their way to top of the leaderboard with a modest 56 points.

Continuing the action, day two saw underdogs rise the ranks, with IW NRX jumping from fourth to first following three silver medals, opting to play it safe to stay in the fight later on. The eagerly-watched Team Falcons also secured their first victory of the tournament, accompanied by a commendable 11 eliminations. The third day was another exciting series of podium changes, with Tong Jia Bao Esports rising from seventh with 74 points to first with 142, almost doubling their standing.

Closing the Group Red matches, NAVI came out on top after earning themselves their fourth Chicken Dinner. Tong Jia Bao Esports took second place with 177 points, trailed by Nigma Galaxy in third with 172. An incredible performance from the Turkish IW NRX saw them lead the eight teams heading to the Survival Stage, with a mighty 115 kill points and just one win. At the other end of the board, IHC ESPORTS saw their goals for this tournament cut short, as they took the twelfth spot, writing their elimination in stone and losing grasp of the 2024 PMGC title.

Following their excellent performances, NAVI, Tong Jia Bao Esports, and Nigma Galaxy have secured their place in the Grand Finals. Meanwhile, IW NRX leads the eight teams heading to the Survival Stage, where they will compete with 16 other teams to remain in the competition. For the remaining five teams, their journeys end here, giving them time to rest up and prepare for the next year of PUBG MOBILE Esports.

This week, the final four days of the League Stage will take place, with the teams in Group Green battling it out from 14th-17th November. Fans can expect another nail biting week of contest, with Stalwart Esports preparing for the big event, following a second-place finish in the 2023 PMGC and fourth-place in the 2022 PMGC. Joining them, Team Liquid, who started their PUBG MOBILE Esports journey this year, will look to show the world what they have to offer, following a mid-table finish in the 2024 PUBG MOBILE World Cup (PMWC).

The end of the Group Green matches will conclude the League Stage. The Survival Stage will then commence 20th-22nd November, as the teams placed 4th-12th in each group going face-to-face once again to stay in the fight. The top 16 teams from this stage will then head to Last Chance from 23rd-24th November for one last showdown, where just six teams will join the Grand Finals, taking place in London’s ExCeL centre from 6th-8th December.
