Although most of the viewership was for the games of the Southeast Asian teams, the emergence of dark horses like BloodThirstyKings, Natus Vincere, and Keyd Stars made the entire tournament more entertaining to watch.

M3 World Championship 2021 breaks the past records set by M2

 Before this tournament, the most viewership was gained during the M2 World Championship which was held earlier this year (as it got postponed due to the pandemic). Here are some statistics from the Esports Charts which show the rise in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports viewership during the M3 tournament in the different regions when compared to M2.

  1. English broadcasts: +220% increase
  2. Indonesian broadcasts: +32% increase
  3. Malaysian broadcasts: +71% increase
  4. Khmer broadcasts: +183% increase
  5. Russian broadcasts: +52% increase
  6. Spanish broadcasts: +189% increase

The commentary was also available in different languages like Arabic, Thai, and Italian to cater to the players and fans from these regions. The watch hours of the M3 World Championship 2021 increased by 47% when compared to M2. The peak viewership of M3 also increased by 4% with 100 thousand more spectators.

The match series between RRQ Hoshi vs ONIC Philippines broke all past peak viewership records

In the Upper Bracket, the top Indonesian and Filipino teams, RRQ Hoshi and ONIC Philippines faced each other. Fans from both of these countries and also from around the world came online to cheer their favorite teams and view them play against each other. This match series recorded a peak viewership of 3.1 million viewers.

These numbers are shocking as it is higher than the numbers of other major tournaments like The International 10 from Dota 2, PGL Major Stockholm 2021 from CS:GO, and the League of Legends Worlds 2017-2018 figures. It proves that Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M3 World Championship 2021 was well received by fans and players from around the world.
