Sucker Punch Productions introduced their action-adventure game, the Ghost of Tsushima on July 17, 2020 exclusively for PlayStation users. Now, the samurai themed masterpiece has officially surpassed 8 million sales worldwide. This makes Ghost of Tsushima, one of the most successful PlayStation exclusive games of all time. The game was initially released for PlayStation 4 and fans absolutely loved it right from the start. Ghost of Tsushima was made available for PlayStation 5 users from August 20, 2021.

During the CES 2022 conference, Sony revealed that their flagship action-adventure offering by Sucker Punch Productions, the Ghost of Tsushima sold over 8 million copies all around the world. Among the total sales, 3 million copies were sold after November 2020 and 1.5 million sales added since March 2021. Sony said, “A fantastic range of story missions and side quests make for a memorable offshore excursion, and put alongside the main campaign, Ghost of Tsushima now stands as a PS4 and PS5 must buy”. The game’s popularity has surely increased after Sony released the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut for PlayStation 5. Sucker Punch Productions has huge expectations from the Director’s Cut which acts as an upgrade on Ghost of Tsushima and includes an extended story-line. The senior writer of the Director’s Cut, Patrick Downes said, “Our semi-fictional version of lki Island provides a stark contrast to Tsushima. It is a wild, lawless land of raiders and criminals, scarred by memories of war, and fiercely independent; the samurai have not been in control there for decades.”

Ghost of Tsushima has developed a huge fan base with its thrilling story-line, skullful combats and a creative open-world map. After an impressive 8 million sales, it has become the third best-selling PlayStation game right behind Horizon Zero Dawn and the legendary God of War. After the huge success of Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch Productions are looking forward to its sequel Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut.
