FIFAe Nations Cup Final Day
It was the maiden appearance of the Indian esports team in the tournament as Saransh Jain, Charanjot Singh, and Siddh Chandarana represented their country, accompanied by their coach Lokmanyu Chaturvedi. Here are the excerpts of the final day matches.
Match 1
The return leg started with identical fixtures from the opening day as India faced Italy. Rampant Italy made their intentions clear from the get-go putting loads of pressure on the Indian team. Eventually, Italy took the lead and also extended the lead to 4 which was beyond India’s reach. Charanjot & co pulled back one but the outcome of the match was already known.
Match 2
The next task was the Netherlands who are considered one of the favorites to go through along with Italy. The Netherlands stamped their authority from the first minute creating chances after chances. Eventually, the Dutch broke the deadlock and went ahead in the mid-way of the second half and also secured a two-goal lead. Charanjot & co halved the deficit with 10 minutes remaining, but the Dutch restored the two-goal advantage as they secured a comprehensive victory.

Team India were handed narrow defeats by Poland and Mexico. The eTigers had to suffer an additional time penalty as Poland edged India collecting all three points. Defeat against Poland ensured that the Indian team won’t be able to qualify for the knock-outs.
On the other hand, Mexico ranked 7 in the world and dominated the match from start to finish. The second-half goal was the difference between the sides.
Match 5
Team India had a chance to end their campaign on a winning note against Morocco whom they defeated 2-1 in the first leg. However, things were completely different from the other day as Morocco upped the ante from the get-go. Eventually, Morocco secured a cake-walk victory to move up to the 5th fifth spot while India had to settle with a bottom-of-the-table finish.
Not the results that Team India would have wanted, but the eTigers have made the country proud regardless. So, this is all about Team India’s campaign at FIFAe Nations Cup.
