Singapore will crown its national representative at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M5 World Championship this Sunday, following the conclusion of the MLBB Professional League Singapore (MPL SG) Season 6 Playoffs. The winning team will bear the Singapore flag at the M5 World Championship in the Philippines in December, which will feature international teams from Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), North America, and Europe.
The Playoffs will be hosted offline at Suntec City Mall, Level 1 Atrium (Tower 1 & 2) from 20 to 22 October and will see Singapore’s top eight MLBB teams compete for the title and the lion’s share of the SG$100,000 prize pool in front of hundreds of fans. MOONTON Games and Zenway Productions organize MPL SG which is Singapore’s one and only esports league.
Season 6 Playoffs: MPL SG’s Biggest Yet with Free Entry
The Season 6 Playoffs will be MPL SG’s biggest yet, featuring a larger seating area and activation zone. The league and this season’s sponsors – McDonald’s, Head & Shoulders, and OSIM – have lined up a host of fun, family-friendly activations for participants.
There will be meet-and-greets with MPL SG professional players, cosplays, and mascots walkabouts, as well as plenty of prizes and giveaways, including more than 150,000k Diamonds (MLBB in-game currency), limited edition MLBB and MPL SG merchandise, and Chicken McCrispy® Extra Value Meals™. Additionally, Season 6 will debut a new trophy for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) – modelled after the Elemental Lord – commissioned by Presenting Sponsor, McDonald’s Singapore. The McDonald’s Playoffs MVP Trophy will be on display at the McDonald’s booth.
Entry is completely free. Fans will just need to turn up and register at the counter to get their tickets, with seating to be available on a first-come-first-served basis. Additionally, three lucky winners will win 10,000 Diamonds every day just by being in attendance. Registration will be by match only – i.e., if you register for Match 1, you’ll need to register for Match 4 again.
Schedule & Full Teams Revealed
Singapore’s top eight MLBB teams have been seeded in the Season 6 Playoffs based on their final standings from the Regular Season.
The Playoffs will adopt a hybrid elimination bracket, where the first two rounds – between the bottom four teams from the Regular Season – will follow a single elimination format, while the rest of the rounds will follow a double elimination format. All the matches will be played in a Best-of-Three (BO3) format, except for the Lower Bracket Finals and Upper Bracket Finals – which will have a Best-of-Five (BO5) format – and the Grand Finals – which will have a Best-of-Seven (BO7) format.
The first match of the Playoffs will take place on Friday, 20 October, at 10am GMT+8 – between EVIL (Regular Season 5th-place) and Alchemy SG (Regular Season 8th-place) in the Lower Bracket, Round 1. MPL SG veterans, EVIL, will favour this match-up against Season 6 debutants, Alchemy SG, who lost every one of the seven matches in the Regular Season. Vanguard SG (Regular Season 6th-place) will take on Stellark SG (Regular Season 7th-place) at 12:30pm in the other Lower Bracket, Round 1 match.
The marquee matches of Day 1 will follow, with Team Flash (Regular Season 1st-place) going up against Bleed Esports (Regular Season 4th-place). There will be plenty of eyes on Filipino players, Jaymark “Hadess” Lazaro from Team Flash, as well as Kiel “Kielvj” Cruzem and Jeff “S4gitnu” S.Subang from Bleed Esports, with all three players having put in strong performances when both teams clashed in the Regular Season. Will Team Flash come out on top again?
The final match of Day 1 will be between defending champion, RSG SG (Regular Season 2nd-place), and Homebois SG (Regular Season 3rd-place). Back-to-back-to-back MPL SG champion, RSG SG, will have their eye on a fourth consecutive championship victory, but will first need to overcome dark horses, Homebois SG. Homebois SG will be feeling the pressure, having witnessed their MLBB Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) counterparts, HomeBois, secure their first-ever title on 8 October.
