In recent years, we have witnessed a massive growth of Esports games and tournaments. However, the concerns about video gaming addiction are also raising as each day passes. We have seen a young boy’s addiction to playing BGMI cost his parents more than 19 lakhs INR. Another incident took place where a 13-year-old-young boy committed suicide after his father stopped him from playing the game. A Mohali teenager had stolen more that 2 Lakhs rupees to buy in-game items.

There are so many examples that can be put together and it raises so many questions. In terms of the Esports community, India is growing rapidly but it’s safe to see these kinds of incidents occur in tandem.

The most recent incident took place in Uttar Pradesh a few hours back as A minor boy shot dead his mother after she stopped him from playing the PUBG game. According to a preliminary probe, he was addicted to the game and his mother used to stop him from playing BGMI. That’s why he committed the incident with his father’s pistol.

Since the introduction of the popular Battle Royale mobile games, we have been witnessing quite a few unfortunate incidents. Authorities need to take a strict approach to stop these kinds of incidents from occurring further. We also think that popular creators and streamers should come forward and do the needful which would create a better environment for all players in the community.
