MPL SG veterans Team Flash dethrone three-time defending champions RSG SG

This season of MPL SG is its most competitive yet; several local teams have undergone huge roster revamps, including Team Flash, RSG SG, and new debutant Homebois Singapore.

Team Flash clinched their first-ever Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Singapore (MPL SG) championship yesterday, dethroning former champions RSG Singapore (RSG SG) and earning themselves qualification for the M5 World Championship in Manila. Hosted at Suntec City Mall, Atrium (Tower 1 and 2), eight professional esports teams served their best at the Season 6 Playoffs to compete for the lion’s share of the SGD 100,000 prize pool and the coveted title of the best Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) team in Singapore.

Touted as “rejects” in the MPL Singapore esports landscape, Team Flash consists of Adammir, Hadess, Kennn, Jayy, MikuMikuMii, Vanix, Bao, and Lolsie, who are largely MPL SG veterans who have competed in rival teams since Season 1. Despite the “retiree” tag, Team Flash defied all expectations to clinch their first local championship title. This also marks Lolsie’s fourth local gold in a row, having played a pivotal role in RSG SG’s three-peat championships before.

The Grand Finals saw a record high of 67,407 peak concurrent viewers in the final series between RSG SG and Team Flash, more than double the previous record of 32,545 peak concurrent viewers set in Season 4. Several surprises took place in the finals, which included Hadess performing an epic backdoor in Game 5 and Team Flash’s base being left with a sliver of HP (health points) in Game 6 – narrowly avoiding defeat from RSG SG thanks to an even greater defense from Adammir.

While RSG SG started strong in the first and second games, their confidence took a turn in the third match, with Team Flash performing a comeback in the series to the delight of the offline fans, who witnessed their heroes in action from dawn to dusk due to Team Flash having fought EVIL in the Lower Bracket Finals earlier in the day.

“It is quite a miracle. We pulled off from 1:3 all the way to 4:3… we took out things that we usually don’t and we still managed to do it because we trust each and every one of our players.” – Eugene “Kayzeepi” Kong, Analyst, Team Flash.

“We formed this dream team to win the championship but didn’t know what to expect when we headed in. When we won the first series against RSG SG in the Regular Season, that’s when we knew that we had something that was special. There have been a lot of challenges, there have been a lot of doubts, but overall, we still managed to pull it off.” – Remas “Remaniscent” Hong, Coach, Team Flash.
