KRAFTON, Inc. Chairman, Byung Gyu (BG) Chang, recently met Amit Kumar, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Korea and Nishi Kant Singh, Deputy Chief of Mission to the Republic of Korea at the company’s Seoul headquarters. KRAFTON India CEO, Sean Hyunil Sohn, was also present at the meeting. KRAFTON India, is the publisher of India’s most loved mobile game- BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI) along-with other popular games such as Road To Valor: Empires, Defense Derby and NEW STATE MOBILE.
At the forefront of the meeting’s discussions were the 50th anniversary of India-Korea diplomatic relations and KRAFTON’s increased investments in India. During the discussions, the Indian Ambassador emphasised the government’s commitment to fostering the entertainment and gaming industry, as well as supporting startup growth—a mission closely aligned with KRAFTON’s ongoing investments in India. Further bolstering India- South Korea relations, KRAFTON will be hosting India-Korea Invitational matches wherein the top gaming teams of both the countries will play BGMI matches in India in October 2023.
BG Chang reiterated the significance of the Indian market for KRAFTON, expressing his vision of the company’s growth aligning with India’s progress. He highlighted the importance of collaborations between both nations to enhance India’s gaming ecosystem and introduce new gaming experiences to Indian players. He also mentioned that KRAFTON’s strategy in India remains grounded in the robust growth of the traditional gaming industry, which continues to thrive with double-digit growth.
This meeting signifies yet another positive development in the India-Korea relationship and underscores KRAFTON’s commitment to expanding its presence and operations in India. It marks a significant step toward further collaboration in celebration of the 50th year of India-Korea diplomatic relations and in driving growth within the Indian gaming landscape.
