Garena and UP Govt signed an MOU to promote Esports in Uttar Pradesh. Garena may organise esports tournaments using Yotta’s infrastructure.

Garena, the game developer behind the popular Battle Royale game Free Fire, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to promote esports in the state.

The eSports industry is a rapidly growing sector in India. Recently, many states have understood its potential, including Madhya Pradesh, which is going to launch India’s first eSports academy in the state, and Bihar, which promises to give a boost to the eSports industry in the state.

This Strategic partnership between Garena and the Uttar Pradesh Government will promote esports in the state by using Yotta’s local data center infrastructure, which offers hyperscale tier IV Data center solutions in India. This partnership will aim to position Uttar Pradesh on the frontlines of Esports.

Garena is also an active advocate and organizer of Esports events in Southeast Asia. So Garena may organize esports tournaments and events in Uttar Pradesh using Yotta’s local data center infrastructure.

However, this partnership may help Free Fire make a comeback in India, as Free Fire is developed by Garena. Free Fire has been banned in India since February 14, 2023. The game is banned by the Ministry of Home Affairs due to security and privacy concerns.

Esports is getting huge recognition in India from adding esports to multi-sport events, and other states like Madhya Pradesh and Bihar have officially introduced esports in their states. and now the Uttar Pradesh government’s signing of an MOU with Garena will definitely grow eSports in the country.

This is a significant boost for the Indian eSports business, which has enormous potential. The esports sector is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, and it is expected to grow rapidly in India. The Indian esports market is expected to be worth US $165.7 million by 2022. Moving forward, IMARC Group experts predict exceptional growth, with the market expected to reach US $522.6 million by 2028. This equates to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.1% between 2023 and 2028.
