The Government of India blocked the title in July 2022 due to data privacy concerns under section 69A of the IT Act. After multiple discussions and efforts from all involved parties, the Government of India has approved KRAFTON to run BGMI operations with the title promising to abide by the rules of the land. The title will further go through a 90-day trial and during this period GOI will keep monitoring the title.
Free Fire Unban Date: Will Garena reintroduce Garena Free Fire anytime soon
Talking about the possible return of the title, Skyesports founder, Shiva Nandy a couple of months ago mentioned, “It seems that Garena is making a strong effort to bring back Free Fire in India and is just a few steps closer. BGMI is also set to come back anytime soon. With games like BGMI, Free Fire, Counter-Strike, Pokemon Unite, and Valorant, Indian Esports Industry is poised to reach new heights. “
Over the last few months, there have been rumours about the title’s return. However, as of now, Garena has not shown any signs of its possible return. Over the last months, we have seen KRAFTON’s presence in the Indian gaming scene through Road to Valors Empires. On the hand, Garena has not done anything to indicate its return anytime soon.
