How has your journey been in gaming and content creation?

I started my YouTube channel before COVID, as a tech and series review channel. Here began my story to chose my username- BrightFox, as it conveys the idea of providing valuable tech information, with a primary focus on gaming content, similar to enlightening information. But one day, by accident, I was discussing the top mobile games being watched in India. During my live streaming, I was discussing the top mobile games being watched in India. At that time, PUBG was popular, along with a few other games, however, I forgot to mention one game i.e. Free Fire. In that particular video, I received many negative comments for excluding Free Fire. It was then I realized Free Fire had a substantial fan base in India, and many people loved the game.

A content creator named Avenger Gaming from Kerala, who was popular at the time, shared my video with his audience. This led to a surge of viewers to my channel when I had around 2,000 subscribers. The attention was overwhelming, with one video surpassing 10,000 views in a day. I owe this success in part to Avenger Gaming’s support. I began playing Free Fire and became deeply engrossed in it.

One day, I decided to try live-streaming the game, marking the beginning of my streaming journey. This could not have been possible without the support of my husband, who worked for a US-based gaming company called Zynga. He later received a job offer from Garena, the parent company of Free Fire, and accepted it with excitement. This alignment of passion led him to join Garena, where he worked on Free Fire, while I continued gaming and streaming. This marked the inception of my gaming journey

Can you elaborate on the role played by the live-streaming platform in establishing a niche community specific to gamers?

A live streaming platform for gaming brings like-minded people together to share their comments, views, and talents. This is a major highlight of such a platform, as it allows us to connect with passionate gamers and influential streamers. Platforms like Loco provide a stage for communication and audience interaction, allowing us to gather opinions from fellow gamers. This platform not only helps us grow as gamers and streamers but also offers monetization opportunities. It’s gratifying to earn income from our passion. I’ve been working with Loco for the past year and have witnessed its significant influence in the South Indian gaming community, particularly in Kerala. This platform enables us to engage with our own local community and leverage its advantages for gamers.

You are a working professional as well, so how do streaming and work go hand in hand with you?

Thanks to my husband’s support, I’ve been able to manage both my career and my YouTube channel. Working at a startup in Bangalore comes with its demands, but my manager has been very understanding. I’ve been working from home because of my YouTube commitments, and my team is aware of this. They encourage me to find a balance. My family, especially my husband, and my manager have played a crucial role in helping me juggle both my roles as a finance and operations manager and a streamer. Without their support, it wouldn’t be possible to handle these responsibilities simultaneously.

How has Loco supported your streaming journey and why do you prefer this platform?

As I said, I have been working with Loco for the last year, and as a streamer, I learned a lot from Loco, and they helped me grow. So the female streamers are very few in our gaming community, but the way Loco’s people are supporting us is very good. Even though we are conducting many events for female streamers, we are getting I’m not talking about gender, we are still getting support. And as I said, I am from South India. In Loco, you can see so many South Indian audiences. So that’s the way I was getting engaged with the South Indian audience, only because of Loco.

Because Loco has a lot of South Indian audiences on their platform and the platform is very user-friendly. So it’s kind the support team out there would help us out in case of the chances when we did not stream for a particular day or a particular hour. This kind of support from the platform is extremely encouraging for streamers. Additionally, the factor that we are able to monetize from streaming and connect with our local community is something I admire about the platform.

Recently, there has been a lot of buzz around the comeback of Free Fire India, what are your opinions on the same?

Consider this scenario: you have a group, and you’re all engrossed in playing a game together. However, one day, the game gets banned, and the next day, you can no longer play it. I’m not just talking about Free Fire; this also applies to BGMI. As gamers and streamers, we feel helpless in such situations. We have no control over these decisions, right? Everyone is frustrated, and we’re all saddened because we’re losing our gaming community and the company of fellow gamers. It’s a tough situation. However, the bright side is that these are long-term games. For instance, I’ve been playing Free Fire for the last two to three years, and I’m thrilled that I can return to my Free Fire live streams and reconnect with my Free Fire audience. I can engage with them once again. It’s a happy moment for us to make a comeback. Yeah, that sounds great.

What is your average streaming time? And which is the game you love the most?

I initially started with Free Fire, which is a game I love. However, after it was banned, I transitioned to PC games. My streaming schedule aligns with my work hours, typically starting at 7:15 p.m. In the past, I used to stream for 4 to 5 hours, but due to recent health issues, I now limit my streams to a maximum of 3 hours. I consider myself more of a streamer than a gamer. While gamers are highly competitive and skilled, my focus is on interaction and conversation, which aligns with my talkative nature. Currently, I incorporate reactions to games and other random videos in my streams. I’m also engaged in GTA V RP (role-play) on dedicated servers in Kerala, where I play a character named Ellie. Many now know me as Ailey, owing to my character’s popularity.

Discuss the increasing presence of women in the gaming industry, and how platforms like Loco provide opportunities for female gamers to excel, connect with others, and inspire the next generation of women gamers.

Well, I am one of those examples of how Loco supports female gamers. Recently, at the Indian Gaming Awards in Mumbai, I was honored with an award. As a streamer, this recognition exceeded my expectations. Loco and IWM hosted the event on their platform, emphasizing the significant role they play in contributing to the gaming economy by supporting women gamers. It’s remarkable to witness the acknowledgment and celebration of women streamers in the gaming community, even though it tends to be male-dominated.

When I first started using a face cam in my streams, I lacked confidence and was apprehensive about the comments I might receive. Whether positive or negative, comments can be overwhelming. As a female streamer, my confidence was at its lowest. However, now I can’t imagine streaming without my face cam. This newfound confidence is something all female gamers are experiencing, not only in India but worldwide. In the local community, we organize programs and campaigns for women streamers, even on Women’s Day. Loco’s continuous support has empowered many female gamers to showcase their talent in the gaming world. I’m immensely proud and happy to witness this progress.
