BGMI Ban in India: Meity confirms the main reason behind the removal of the title

Answer:

MeitY is empowered to issue directions for blocking access of information by the public under section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. A due process being followed is defined in the Information Technology Rules, 2009.

Based on the requests received through designated nodal officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology i.e MeitY has blocked the game application Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) under the provision of section 69A of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000. The Information Technology (Procedure and safeguards for blocking for access of information by public) Rules, 2009.

The GOI also confirmed that they had meetings with the Krafton official. However, it can’t be revealed as Rule 16 of Information Technology Rules 2019 requires strict confidentiality around such matters. Meanwhile, the gaming stakeholders feel that the title will make its return for sure but the date is not known yet. So, let’s see what happens in the coming days.

So, these are all about the latest developments regarding the BGMI ban in India. However, as of now, the title would not return before December. So, gamers have to wait for a few months to have any clarity.
