Asian Games 2022 announces eSports medal events, includes PUBG: The Asian Games 2022 will be held in Hangzhou, China in the month of September, 2022. The Olympic Council of Asia has revealed the titles for the eSports in Asian Games 2022, which will be an official medal sport. There will be a total of two demonstration games and eight eSports medal events in the tournament. Introduction of eSports in Asian Games 2022 reflects the huge popularity of gaming among Asia countries.

The titles that are featured in the Asian games are:

  • Dota 2
  • EA Sports FIFA
  • League of Legends
  • PUBG Mobile Asian Games Version
  • HearthStone
  • Dream Three Kingdoms 2
  • Street Fighter V
  • Arena of Valor Asian Games Version

The two demonstrated events will be AESF VR Sports – Powered by Migu and AESF Robot Masters – Powered by Migu. The Director of Esports Federation of India and Vice President of AESF, Mr. Lokesh Suji said, “For titles like Hearthstone, EA FIFA, Dota 2, League of Legends, Street Fighter, we have very strong chances of winning Medals for India; Tirth Mehta who got bronze medal last time will be able to convert that bronze to a Gold this time.” He also dedicated a program called “Road to Asian Games” in which they will screen the best talents through auditions and train them for Asian Games 2022 in China.

Mr. Suji believes that India has strong chances of medal finishes for eSports in Asian Games. He also mentioned the significance of the Esports category by saying, “It’s time for our Sports Ministry to recognize ESFI and our sport ‘esports’. We are confident that we will increase our medals tally this time.” This announcement was made in the Seminar Video conference for Asia Games 2022 that was held on September 8, 2021.
