Indian Digital Gaming Society’s (IDGS) first conclave, IGC, held in Bangalore

Indian Digital Gaming Society first conclave "Indian Gaming Conclave" aka IGC held in Bangalore welcoming the gaming and startup industry in Karnataka.

 Indian Digital Gaming Society’s (IDGS) first Gaming Conclave (IGC), was held at Hotel Taj, MG Road, Bengaluru, last week. IDGS is a premier National Body that works towards promoting the growth and development of the gaming industry in India. Organized at the gaming hub of India, Bengaluru, this ground-breaking event saw an attendance of over 250 delegates, and brought together industry leaders, game developers, and gaming enthusiasts from all over the country to engage in a dynamic exchange of ideas, insights, and experiences.

Addressing the inaugural session of the conclave, chief guest Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, CEO, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) said, “We welcome the gaming and startup industry into the State of Karnataka.” He further took this opportunity to announce that Karnataka would have the first Esports Arena. He mentioned that they will also give lot of focus on IP creation to support the growth of the industry in Karnataka.

Talking about the event, Mr. Rajan Navani, President of IDGS said, “IDGS is committed to work on grooming and developing a digital gaming ecosystem in India with an aim to promote and encourage Gaming for Good and taking the Indian Digital Gaming Industry to its next level of growth. IDGS’ first Gaming Conclave aims to foster an inclusive and supportive ecosystem for the Indian gaming community, encouraging innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. It will serve as a catalyst for the industry’s growth and provide a platform for dialogue between all stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and gaming enthusiasts.”

With a theme of “Defining the Frontiers – The future of Gaming in India and Gaming for Good”, the conclave featured a series of engaging panel discussions, keynote presentations, interactive talks, and insightful presentations by esteemed industry speakers. These discussions were on emerging trends and technology in gaming, skill development and career in gaming, game design, monetization strategies, fundraising, investments, and the impact of technology on gaming.

Mr. Vishal Dhupar, Member Executive Council, IDGS and Managing Director, South Asia, NVIDIA India Pvt Ltd also delivered an inspiring speech shedding light on the current state and prospects of the gaming industry in India. 

Additionally, Chief Guest Mr Sanjeev Gupta released a comprehensive gaming newsletter sharing updates of the video game industry.

A major highlight of the conclave, the Start-Up Area was an attraction for attendees to explore emerging trends, discuss technological advancements, and delve into the business and creative aspects of gaming. This segment showcased an immersive experience for attendees displaying the latest games that included virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) technologies. Attendees had the chance to participate in interactive talks, conducted by start-ups that shared their expertise, skills, learnings about the latest tools and technologies, and also shared insights into game development and design.

The conclave facilitated a pivotal moment for the Indian gaming industry, providing a networking platform for industry professionals, academia, game developers, publishers, investors, and gaming enthusiasts, fostering collaborations and partnerships that will drive the growth of the gaming industry in India. It showcased and deliberated on encashing the immense potential of the gaming industry in India and propelling it towards global recognition.
