Diablo IV, the latest installment in the popular action role-playing game series, has had a record-breaking launch. The game generated $666 million in global sales in its first five days, making it the fastest-selling game in Blizzard Entertainment’s history. Read on to learn more about the latest title by Blizzard.
Players have already sunk more than 276 million hours into the game, which is equivalent to more than 30,000 years. This level of engagement is unprecedented for a video game, and it is a testament to the quality of Diablo IV.
So what are players doing with all this time? They are slaying demons, of course! Since Early Access began on June 1, players have killed 276 billion demons, which is nearly 35 times the global population. They have also been vanquished over 316 million times, and over 5 million of those deaths were at the hands of the Butcher.
But players are not going down without a fight. They have created parties with friends over 166 million times, and 163 players have made it to the maximum level in Hardcore mode, where deaths are permanent.
When players are not playing Diablo IV, they are watching others play it. The game was the #1 game on Twitch from Early Access on June 1 through June 9, breaking Blizzard records for both hours streamed and watched.
Diablo IV is available now on Windows® PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, and PlayStation®4. The game features cross-platform play and cross-progression, so players can pick up where they left off on any platform.
