Premier League: Erling Haaland was caught using his mobile phone while driving his £300,000 Rolls-Royce. The Manchester City star was seen holding the smartphone while behind the wheel. Pictures appear to depict the talented striker gazing down at his lap, holding the device in his left hand, while his right hand is on the steering wheel.

The 22-year-old Norwegian, Haaland, was driving his white Rolls-Royce Cullinan on a dual carriageway near Manchester’s New Islington, in proximity to City’s Etihad Stadium. The event took place on 14th March, the day following Haaland’s impressive feat of scoring five goals in a 7-0 Champions League triumph over RB Leipzig.

If caught using a mobile phone while driving, one could receive a £200 fine and six penalty points on their driving record.

An onlooker said: “Erling has hardly put a foot wrong since he moved to City. But he needs to pay more attention to the road when he’s driving and needs to brush up on the law when he’s driving. It’s a silly mistake but could be a dangerous one for him and for other road users.

In the event that the driver obtained their license within the previous two years, it can be withdrawn upon being caught.

Then Transport Secretary Grant Shapps stated, “I will utilize all possible means to ensure the safety of road users, which is why I have adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards those who choose to jeopardize lives by utilizing their phone while driving.

A 2020 RAC report discovered that one-third of drivers viewed other drivers using their mobile phones while driving as one of their primary safety worries.

Last year’s statistics disclosed that in 2020, 17 people perished, and 499 others sustained injuries in collisions where the driver was using their mobile phone.
