England set a new world in ODIs after their innings in ENG vs NZ World Cup opener at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Thursday. The Jos Buttler and Co. became the first team in ODI history to have all 11 batters score in double-digits. This is the first instance of all 11 players scoring in double digits in 4658 ODIs.
Notably, England also holds the record for the highest-ever score in the history of ODI cricket. They smashed 498-4 against the Netherlands in June last year.
Although the Jos Buttler-led side set a new record, the total their batting overall was underwhelming as they were restricted to 282/9 in 50 overs. Joe Root was the top scorer for the side with 77. Asked to bat first, England started off on a positive note but kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and were restricted under 300.
