The Official statement from the England Cricket Board read, “Cricket will resume on Saturday to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and honour her remarkable life and service.
Following the cancellation of Friday’s cricket fixtures as a mark of respect on announcement of her death, the England and Wales Cricket Board can confirm that play will resume from Saturday including international, domestic, and recreational fixtures. The decision has been taken after consultation with DCMS and in line with Official National Mourning guidance.
This means the Men’s Test match between England and South Africa will begin at The Oval and the Women’s IT20 match between England and India will also go ahead at the Riverside in Durham. The scheduled match between England and Sri Lanka Men’s U19 along with recreational cricket fixtures will also take place as planned.
Before each match, a minute’s silence will be observed followed by the national anthem. All players and coaches will wear black armbands. Branded inventory will be replaced with messaging paying cricket’s respects to The Queen.”

ENG vs SA: Day 1 Abandoned due to Rain, NO game on Day 2 owing to Queen Elizabeth II’s death, Test now 3-day affair – Follow England vs SouthAfrica 3rd Test LIVE Updates
The series have been rather interesting. In the first Test, England defeated South Africa by an innings and 85 runs. The table turned in the second Test with Proteas beating England by an innings and 12 runs.
With the kind of cricket South Africa have played in the last 12 months, they are going to be a tough team to beat at the Oval. And when it comes to the English side, the home team is always going to be a strong team. Ben Stokes and co know the conditions better, and knows what it takes to win matches on their home turf. The third Test has all the ingredients of a classic encounter.
In the longer format of the game, the pitch is always an important aspect of any match. The pitch in Oval is going to assist the batters, but it has something for the bolwers to work upon. The spinners will also be in action on the last two days provided the game lasts the distance.
