ENG vs PAK T20: Head to head record, recent form and preview of England vs Pakistan T20 Series: Pakistan will hope to turn a corner from their ODI series debacle when they take on England in a three-match T20I series starting on Friday. The Babar Azam led side were completely outplayed by a depleted England outfit led by Ben Stokes, suffering an embarrassing 3-0 whitewash. The Men in Green will now face most of the England regulars in the T20I series, as they ramp up preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

ENG vs PAK T20: England vs Pakistan Head to head record

England and Pakistan are amongst the five teams to have won the T20 World Cup, and the two teams did it in successive years (Pakistan in 2009, England 2010). However, England have the upper hand as far as head to head records are concerned, with the hosts winning 10 games from a total of 15 encounters between the two sides. However, it was Pakistan who claimed victory when the two teams faced off last year, with Babar Azam’s side clinching a series-levelling five-run win. In the six teams they have faced off in England, the hosts have won four times, with two wins in favour of the visitors.

ENG vs PAK T20: Recent form

Pakistan have their last three T20 series against Zimbabwe and South Africa before their tour of England. Babar Azam’s side registered a 2-1 win after the series was level at 1-1 following their collapse in the second game. They were far more impressive in the four T20Is against South Africa, winning the series 3-1 after a nail-biting finish in the last game. They also defeated the Proteas at home, winning the three-match series 2-1 again taking the game to the decider. In their last 10 T20Is, Pakistan have registered seven wins and will look to continue that momentum against England.

As for Eoin Morgan and Co., the hosts come into the series on the back of a 3-0 whitewash of Sri Lanka, winning all games by a comfortable margin. However, England did suffer defeat to India earlier this year, in a nail-biting five-match T20I series, with India clinching a 3-2 win. In their last 10 T20I games, the hosts like Pakistan have registered seven wins and three defeats, all of which came in their tour of India.

ENG vs PAK T20 series: Preview

With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, the series marks an important step of preparation for both teams. England are one of the favourites for the tournament and will look to continue their momentum while finding answers to the chinks in their armour. With a huge pool of players, the series offers many fringe players a chance to stake their claim for a place in the T20 World Cup squad, and get as many runs, wickets and matches under their belt.

As for Pakistan, the series will be aimed at restoring some lost pride after their humiliating 3-0 whitewash in the ODIs. Babar Azam’s side have performed well in the shortest format of the game over the years, but England will prove to be their toughest opposition in some time and it remains to be seen how the Men in Green approach the series. Like England, the series is an opportunity for various players to make their marks and put them in the discussion for the T20 World Cup squad.
