Joe Root became the second English cricketer to go past 10,000 Test runs after the former England captain scored a magnificent match winning century on Day 4 of the ENG vs NZ 1st Test. Set a tricky 277 chase, Root ensured that his team crossed the line with ease, slamming his 26th Test century on the process.

Root’s achievement meant that he was now the 14th cricketer to achieve the landmark, and the first of this generation’s Fab Four. The 31-year-old is the first to join the 10k club since 2017 after Younis Khan was the last player to breach the barrier during the Test series against West Indies.
