England’s first innings came to an end early on Monday as they scored 539 runs and trailed by 14 runs.
Anderson, who was just one wicket away from reaching the landmark, found success early in his very first over with the new ball.
New Zealand skipper Tom Latham misjudged a delivery and bizarrely left the ball only to see it hit the stumps and gifted Anderson his 650th Test wicket.

Having already won the first Test match at Lords’ England would look to take quick wickets and spice up the contest which until the end of the first innings looks headed for a draw. Currently New Zealand lost only that solitary wicket and Will Young and Devon Conway are eyeing a big partnership for the second wicket. The visitors are 38/1 as the play has resumed after the lunch break.
