The Three Lions were 45/0 when the third delivery of Mitchell Shatner’s second over was cut in the air from Buttler with Kane Williamson diving and claiming a stunning catch. As the English skipper began to walk off, the umpires came together to discuss if the catch had been taken cleanly. Williamson gestured to the officials that he had fumbled but managed to hold onto the catch. However, the replays showed the ball had lobbed out of Williamson’s hands and hit the turf before he clutched the ball to his chest.
As the third umpire overturned the decision, Buttler walked back to the crease and as he did Williamson offered up a small apology which the English opener appeared to wave off with a smile. Here’s the video:

After getting a reprieve, Buttler thrashed the Kiwi bowling line-up as he went on to stroke 73 runs in just 47 deliveries. His innings included seven fours and two maximums. Eventually, it was Williamson who involved in Buttler’s dismissal after he inflicted a run-out against the English skipper.
As for the match, Jos Buttler’s blistering 73 followed by a superb bowling effort from bowlers helped England keep their semifinals hopes alive. England clinched a 20-run win over NewZealand in Group 1, making it a final round showdown for semifinals.
With the win, England climb up to the second spot in the group 1 points table. And that’s also New Zealand’s first loss of the tournament. Glenn Phillips top-scored for New Zealand with 62 off 36 deliveries. Skipper Kane Williamson scored 40 off 40 balls. For England, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran bagged two wickets each.
