ENG vs AUS: The well-being of players and officials paramount, Australia players to get full security

For the unversed, after the third Ashes Test was over, ‘Western Terrace’ was also trending on Twitter as a nod to the reception Pat Cummins & Co can expect up North. However, Yorkshire are determined to conduct the third Ashes Test without any glitch.

A spokesperson said: “The Ashes is a truly special occasion, and we want everybody visiting Headingley to have an incredible time watching first-class cricket at our iconic venue.

“The well-being of players, officials, and spectators is paramount, and we are implementing appropriate measures to do everything within our control to keep everyone safe.

“Clearly, some incidents at Lords have heightened the interest and exposure of the third test. We will continue to work closely with both the ECB and West Yorkshire Police to ensure our safety measures are proportionate for this fixture.”

The Australian team will be briefed on the security measures in the already planned meetings ahead of the Leeds Test. The players will have a chance to voice their opinion if they feel any of the area presents a potential risk. Australia opener Usman Khawaja was involved in a heated exchange with one of the MCC members at Lord’s long room during the lunch interval on day five of the second Test.

The southpaw also explained his reason for going at the MCC member. “A few of them were throwing out some pretty big allegations, and if they kept going, well it’s your membership. I expect a lot better from the members.”

Pat Cummins responded to the whole incident and said the MCC apologized for the behavior of some of the members.
