IPL 2021 CSK vs DC: Dhawan, Shaw score big as Delhi Capitals maul Dhoni’s CSK by 7 wickets- Despite Suresh Raina’s half-century on IPL comeback, Delhi Capitals cruised to a 7-wicket victory over MS Shoni’s CSK in the 2nd IPL 2021 match at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan set the stage for the chase with 72 and 85 respectively.

After Suresh Raina helped CSK set a 189-run target, Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan gave Delhi Capitals a strong start. The duo took DC past the 100-run mark in the 11th over. As for CSK, Chinna Thala Suresh Raina made a fantastic return to IPL with a half-century against Delhi Capitals in the first match. After DC bowlers struck early, reducing CSK to 7/2, Raina anchored the innings with a 50. A late quickfire 34 off 15 from Sam Curran helped CSK post 188 in 20 overs.

Chennai Super Kings were off to a poor start as they lost their openers Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad within the first three overs. For Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals, they could not have asked for a better start. But Suresh Raina, making a comeback to the tournament after a year gap along with Moeen Ali steadied Chennai innings.

Pant’s decision to bowl first was on point as Avesh Khan and Chris Woakes gave DC two early wickets, scalping Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis in the first three overs.

However, the early wickets had no impact on the scorecard as Suresh Raina, making a comeback for CSK after missing out last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was on song. He took on both DC spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra as CSK sped up scoring.
