Delhi Capitals Playing XI vs MI – What will Rishabh Pant do without 5 Overseas stars? With 5 overseas players missing, Rishabh Pant only has two foreigners at his disposal.
The Capitals only have New Zealand keeper Tim Seifert and West Indian batter Rovman Powell available amongst their contingent.
Rishabh Pant will have to rely on his Indian stars to deliver the good.
The IPL 2020 finalists are well stocked in the department with a host of domestic talent on their roster.
Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur form the core of the side with Seifert and Powell to fill in on Sunday.
Kuldeep Yadav will share spin bowling duties with Axar Patel, while the likes of Chetan Sakariya, Khaleel Ahmed will support Thakur in the attack.
India’s U-19 World Cup captain Yash Dhull, Sarfaraz Khan, Mandeep Singh, KS Bharat and Lalit Yadav will all be in contention to fill up spots in the batting order.

In Warner’s absence, Delhi are likely to throw Tim Seifert at the top of the order, who could fill in for Warner’s aggressive hitting at the top of the order. Seifert is a multi-dimensional player and could slot anywhere in the playing order, meaning the likes of Yash Dhull and Mandeep Singh will also be in contention.

KS Bharat impressed for RCB at No.3 last season, including a last-ball six against the Capitals, and will be one of the contenders for the spot. Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell are expected to bat at No.4 and No.5, with another batsman to follow with Sarfaraz Khan also in contention. DC could also opt for Seifert as a finisher or a Mandeep Singh at No.6, both having played in the roles previously in their careers.
Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur add much-needed depth to the batting, while last year’s find Chetan Sakariya should pip Khaleel Ahmed as the left-arm pacer in the side. Khaleel could take up the third seamer’s slot in the XI but will face competition Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Nagarkoti’s ex KKR teammate Kuldeep Yadav will pick up the final slot and be DC’s lead spinner for the season. The left-arm chinaman bowler has struggled over the last few seasons but will be keen to deliver on his promise and repay DC’s faith in him

Delhi Capitals Strengths and weaknesses
Rishabh Pant is in fine form and so are some of their young stars in Yash Dhull and Sarfaraz Khan. In Pant, Thakur, Patel, Shaw and Kuldeep – Capitals have five Indian internationals making a strong core despite having the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer in the auction.
As far as the weaknesses are concerned, Delhi will find it very hard to fill the gaps left by their overseas players. While the IPL 2022 finalists have players to fulfil those said roles, their lack of experience and pedigree could hurt Delhi’s plans for the season.
While their batting has enough depth with Shardul Thakur at No.8, their quality is a concern with the absence of Anrich Nortje. Sakariya had a decent IPL last season and will fair up with Khaleel Ahmed or Kamlesh Nagarkoti, with neither having established themselves in the IPL over the last few years.
