Delhi Capitals’ owner Parth Jindal has firmly denied the rumors surrounding Sourav Ganguly replacing Ricky Ponting as the head coach in the next season. The DC owner on Thursday took to Twitter to clear the air and confirmed that both Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting will lead the Capitals’ preparations for IPL 2024.

“Preparations for next years @IPL are underway here @DelhiCapitals, along side @SGanguly99 and @RickyPonting we assure the fans that Kiran and I are working hard to get back to where we want this franchise to be and that is right at the very top”, Jindal tweeted.
Earlier, several reports claimed that Ganguly, who joined as Director for DC before IPL 2023, will take up the coaching role of the franchise. Reports further claimed that the franchise was not happy with Ricky Ponting’s performance as DC failed to win the IPL trophy under his coaching. Notably, the Capitals finished last in IPL 2023 season, winning just five games.
Earlier, Ganguly was a mentor to Delhi Capitals in the 2019 edition of IPL. Delhi Capitals finished third in the league in that edition before exiting in the playoffs.
The former India captain has been part of the IPL for many years in some form but is yet to don the coaching role for any franchise.
Meanwhile, Ponting has been in the role since 2018 and has overseen a period of success for the team. In IPL 2020, DC went on to finish as runners-up in the 2020 IPL under Ponting’s guidance.
