Manchester United to JOIN race for Declan Rice with player PLUS cash offer

Manchester United is ready to join the race to sign West Ham's Declan Rice with a player plus cash offer that could include Scott McTominay or Harry Maguire.

Declan Rice Transfer: West Ham United captain Declan Rice will be leaving the club this summer transfer window. He has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal. However, the Hammers have rejected bids from Arsenal twice now as none of the offers have matched their asking price of £100 million. Arsenal could bid another time, but Manchester United are ready to jump in the race with a proposition of their own. They will be offering the Hammers either Harry Maguire or Scott McTominay plus cash for Rice.

West Ham United captain Declan Rice is set to leave the club. The talented midfielder has been on the radar of several top-level clubs, like Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich. While Arsenal now carry the highest odds of signing the player, they had both of their bids rejected by the Hammers. West Ham have put a £100 million asking price for Rice. The amount could be a problem for Man United who have a limited budget to spend this summer.

However, they will offer West Ham a player plus cash deal instead of the huge amount. They could be offering Harry Maguire or Scott McTominay and cash for Rice. West Ham have shown some interest in McTominay who is up for sale this summer. Additionally, their coach David Moyes clearly admires Maguire. Hence, the Hammers could still accept the deal. However, Man United will face some hindrances in their way to make this deal. Maguire could leave the club this transfer window, but he has a high wage expectations.

West Ham could be unable to meet Maguire’s wage expectations. On the other hand, Man United will have to see whether McTominay would prefer a move to West Ham at all or not. Man United have qualified for the Champions League after missing out on the competition the previous year. Approaching the new season, coach Erik Ten Hag has plans to revamp his team. Hence, he is looking to sell McTominay. However, they are also ready to sell Fred who has been on Fulham’s radar.

If Fred leaves the club, McTominay might still stay at Man United. However, if Man United can still use McTominay to bring in Rice, they will use that card. On the other hand, while the Red Devils would like to sell Maguire, he is still their captain. Hence, they have no will to force the player out of the club. Maguire has seen less playing time recently, so he could want to leave. However, whether he will agree to a move to West Ham remains a doubt.

As things stand now, West Ham want at least £100 million for Rice. While Arsenal’s two bids have been rejected, the Gunners could still make a third bid matching the Hammers’ asking price. Additionally, Manchester City is another such interested party that could blow away any other competition out of the race if they join now. The Hammers also have their targets who they would acquire by the transfer money they get from selling Rice. If they agree on Man United’s deal, they would have to rethink their transfer window targets as well.
