De Gea Contract: Manchester United still have a long list of players who are running out of their contract soon enough. The list includes their star goalkeeper David de Gea who has been a key player for the club since 2011. As per reports, he has now agreed on a four-year-long contract where he will be taking a huge pay cut, but only after including terms that provide him with incentives based on his performance. David de Gea has remained an integral cog of the Manchester United team since he joined the club from Atletico Madrid in 2011. The team structure and managers changed, but he has remained significant for always. The man has kept 186 clean sheets in a total of 534 matches he has appeared for the club. After the arrival of Erik Ten Hag, De Gea has also managed to impress the new boss.

That’s why Ten Hag has been determined to sign a new long-term deal with the player. Currently, David de Gea is not only the club’s highest-paid player, but he is also the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world. He earns more than £375,000 per week. As a part of the new deal offered to him by Manchester United, they wanted him to take a huge pay cut, which De Gea rejected the first time around.

Manchester United presented David de Gea with this new deal with reduced pay a few weeks ago. De Gea rejected the pay cut back then but agreed to negotiate more as he wanted to stay at the club as well. De Gea thought that the reduced pay did not justify the performance he delivers for the club on a daily basis. However, the Spanish goalkeeper is 32 years old, so that could factor into the player’s new salary.

There was a chance that he would become a free agent if the two parties couldn’t agree on a deal. There were even rumours that Manchester United was looking for De Gea’s replacement. Apparently, Man United considered bringing in David Raya from Brentford and Diogo Costa from Porto. However, new reports say that De Gea has finally agreed on a long-term deal with Manchester United.

Apparently, David de Gea will take reduced pay as a part of his new four-year-long deal. However, he has only agreed to such a condition after he was offered an alternative where the goalkeeper will receive bonuses as per his performance. This means that keeping clean sheets from now on can get him financial incentives. Any more details on the deal have not been revealed as of yet.

Man United might have found a way to keep their star goalkeeper to themselves, but now Erik Ten Hag will have to focus on signing Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot. Both Dalot and Rashford’s contracts expire next year. Dalot has been presented with a five-year deal which has interested the player. Man United is yet to realize a contract with Rashford, but representatives have agreed that this will be the player’s biggest and most important deal with the club.
